Itinerary

1: Delhi or Kolkata – Guwahati

Arrive Guwhati by air from Delhi / Kolata and on arrival transfer to hotel. Guwahati- ‘ The light of the East’ and the gateway to the entire North East region. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

2: Guwahati – Tezpur

Early morning visit to Kamkhaya Temple, known for its power and enrichment. Also for birds eye view of Guwahati. Later drive to Tezpur (175 K.ms) Sonitpur as ancient Tezpur was known in the olden days is a city steeped in mythology legend and folklore. ‘The city of blood’ conjures up images of the romantic legend of Usha & Aniruddha and of the fierce battle between Hari and Hara. Overnight at hotel.

3: Tezpur – Dirang

This morning after breakfast drive to Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh, 200 K.ms). Enroute visit orchid research center at Tipi (Bhalukpong) out of thousand species of orchids in India, over 500 are found in Arunachal Pradesh. Next visit Sherdukpen tribal villages at Rupa, who practise Mahayana sect of Buddhism. Overnight hotel.

4: Dirang – Tawang

After breakfast drive to Tawang the Distrit HQ. (100 K.ms) Enroute visit, Monpa tribal villages, Tsela Lake at an height of 14000 ft above sea level. Overnight hotel .

5: Tawang

Tawang the land of Monpa tribes and the major centre of the Mahayana Buddhism. After breakfast full day excursion to the famous Tawang Monastery. The 300 year old Monastery, locally called ‘Gompa’ is considered to be the oldest in India and second largest Monastery in Asia after Lhasa in Tibet. The Monastery is located on the spur of a hill at an altitude of 12000 ft. Overlooking the wide valley and surrounded on all sides by towering mountains. 12kms on the north west of Tawang is the Brandung Chung Ani Gompa (monastery) of the Nuns. Overnight hotel.

6: Tawang – Bomdila

After breakfast drive to Bomdila (160 K.ms), the headquarter of west Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, located at an altitude of 8000 ft, having a marvelous view of the snow capped mountains & is populated by inhabitants of an mixed tribal groups consisting of Monpa, Sherdulpen, Aka, Miji Bhugun and Tibetains. Enroute, visit to Jung waterfall & ‘Jaswantgarh’ a 1962 Indo-China war memorial. Evening visit upper and lower gompa (Buddhist monestry) local market, museum, emporium etc. Overnight hotel.

7: Bamdila – Itanagar

After Breakfast, drive to Itanagar (220 K.ms)the capital city of Arunachal also known as ‘the Land of the Dawnlit Mountains’. It is located to the east of Tawang and has been identified with Mayapur, a city dating back to the 14th -15th century AD. Visit the major attractions of Itanagar include the Itafort, Buddhist monastery, Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Museum, and the Ganga lake (Geykar Sinyi) and the Zoo. Overnight in hotel.

8: Itanagar – Ziro

Morning drive to Ziro (100 K.ms). Enroute visit Nyishi tribal villages, museum, emporium and local market. The inhabitants of Ziro are the Apa Tani tribes. They are perhaps the most well settled and indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.

9: Ziro

Today sightseeing program at Ziro. Go for Mithun spotting at the 38 km away Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary. Visit the new town of Hapoli. You also head out for the Apa Tani villages for a tete-a-tete with the tribes. The religious belief of the Apa Tanis rests on the spirits and the deities Donyi-Polo, the sun-moon god who is the supreme. Overnight in hotel.

10: Ziro – Daporijo

In the morning transfer to Daporijo (190 km) located on the bank of Sipi and Subansiri river. The inhabitants of Daporijo are the Tagin, Hill Miri and Adi tribals. Visit emporium, local market. Enroute visit Hill Miri tribal village. Overnight in hotel.

11: Daporizo

Whole day programme to explore Tagin village tribal culture. Overnight at hotel.

12: Daporizo – Along

In the morning transfer to Along ( 100 K.ms), located in the bank of Siyom river. Inhabited by Galo, Bori-Bokar tribals. Visit museum, local market, emporium and tribal village. Overnight in hotel.

13: Along

Explore Galong, Bori-Bokar – tribal village. Visit the Akashi Ganga Falls and the archaelogical site Malini Than famous for Granite images of deities. Overnight in hotel.

14: Along – Pasighat

In the morning transfer to Pasighat (130 K.ms), inhabited by Adis, Minyongs, Padam, Passi tribals. Headquarters of the East Siang district, it is located on the banks of the river Siang and the Tsangpho River in Tibet. The Lali Wildlife Sanctuary is the highlight of the region. Overnight in hotel

Pasighat Fullday explore the tribal culture in Pasighat of Adi, Padam tribal village. Overnight at hotel.

16: Pasighat – Dibrugarh

After breakfast,transfer to Jetty to board ferry to Dibrugarh- the tea town of Assam. Cross the river Brahamaputra by country made ferry which takes about 6 hrs. The river Brahamaputra is the confluence of the Siang and Lohit river of Arunachal Pradesh. The ferry service Pasighat to Dibrugarh is a lifeline for this tribe. Overnight hotel.

17: Dibrugarh Onwards

Morning after breakfast transfer to airport to connect Flt for Delhi / Kolkata.
